OR, by Liz Duffy Adams

Scenic Design, Photoshop

The set is loosely inspired by Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Time, this is seen in the fluidity of shapes on stage and the unrealistic  orientation of scenery. Behind the walls a keen eye may notice a scattering of pages as Aphra Behn’s hard work and dedication to her craft the fill in the void behind her.  Just beyond those are massive, towering, and simultaneously sinking (or erupting?) walls. Inspired by design and architecture of the 17th century these walls have a familiar silhouette, but an unorthodox paint treatment. Painted to resemble popular 1960’s patterns the walls are a hybrid of traditional shape and unique pattern. All of the doors on the set are inspired by 17th century architecture and melted and warped to signify the ambiguity of time and passage.

This scenic design was rendered in Photoshop.

The Shape of Things by Neil LaBute

Lighting Design, Watercolor

In a monochromatic and amorphous world, how can we shape and morph it into something spectacular and emotional? Human beings have as much capacity to shape and influence the people around them as they do their environment. In The Shape of Things Evelyn molds and manipulates Adam, pushing him to fit a world she’s designing around him.

This Lighting design consists of four watercolor renderings as well as a light plot and section.
